Reaching the Unreachable: Supporting Lifesaving SRH & GBV Services in Harardheere
With generous funding from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and in partnership with UNFPA, the Organization for Somali Protection and Development (OSPAD) is delivering critical Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) services to some of Somalia’s most underserved communities.
Why This Matters
Harardheere, in the Mudug region of Galmudug State, remains one of the hardest-to-reach and least-supported areas in the country. Years of instability, poor infrastructure, and isolation have left women and girls with almost no access to safe reproductive care or protection services. Many have never visited a health facility. Others walk long distances for help that often does not exist.
Your support is helping change that.

What Donor Support Enables
Through mobile outreach clinics, OSPAD’s trained health teams are now providing:
- Maternal and antenatal care
- Essential medicines and emergency reproductive services
- Family planning information & counseling
- GBV support, referrals, and confidential protection services
- Health education for women, girls, and caregivers
These services are delivered directly in the communities, removing the barriers that prevent women and girls from receiving care in traditional facilities.
A Sincere Thank You to KOICA and UNFPA
OSPAD expresses its profound appreciation to KOICA for investing in women’s health and protection in humanitarian settings. Your commitment ensures that forgotten populations are reached with dignity and respect.
A Call for Continued Partnership
The needs in Harardheere remain significant. Sustaining—and scaling—these lifesaving services is crucial to reducing maternal risks, preventing GBV, and closing the equity gap for vulnerable families in remote, crisis-affected areas.
OSPAD stands ready as a dedicated local partner, committed to reaching those most in need and advocating for the rights and well-being of Somali women and girls.
Together, we can ensure no community is left behind.
